In a face–to–face interview with Mrs. Carson she stated, “In 2004 my husband suffered with a heart attack and was immediately hospitalized. He was given a defective defibrillators and pacemaker. These devices was supposed to be a life saving device. Due to its defectiveness it shocked my husbands heart 35 times. This device by Guidant was recalled due to a class action lawsuit.  We were never advised of this information. My husband had major life threatening complications that cause a 2-day hospital stay turn into 30 days stay. In addition we suffered with costly errors, operations, and financial losses. This intense situation impacted our lives to the point where my husband wasn’t able to work. This whole situation left us with large co-payments, private hospital bills, and costly medication and abusive medical services that were rendered. We reached out to many social service agencies for assistance, however we were denied. We were forced to refinance our home and use credit cards to survive. I had to personally stop my own personal medications for a chronic illness, so my husband could get his life saving medications. These are some of the things that happen to my family an I refuse to see another person’s family suffer like mine.”

The main focus of this campaign is to educate the public on Medicare fraud, waste and abuse. Why is this important? There have been massive amounts of dollars lost totaling billions. This lost is due to fraud, waste and abuse. This is why she is an advocate for Medicare fraud. She has offered an open invition for volunteers to join her in the fight. If you are interested you can contact your  local Senior Medicare Patrol.
